Singer, Songwriter, Storyteller

Gina Rose Rizk is a singer songwriter born in the northern suburbs of Chicago and raised in the rainy city of Portland, Oregon. Gina received her first guitar as a Christmas gift at the age of seven and has been writing songs ever since.

Gina received her Bachelor’s of Music from Portland State University, during which time she had the privilege of traveling around the world to perform with the PSU Chamber Choir. She received her first recording credit on the group’s 2020 album, titled “Translations”. Gina also studied classical voice for all of her collegiate years, performing frequently in recitals and operas and receiving praise for her gentle, flute-like tone.

Although Gina learned a tremendous amount during her college experience, she found the world of art music stiff and creatively stifling. After graduation, she reconnected with her love of folk and rock music and dove headfirst back into the world of songwriting. Drawing from the influence of artists like Phoebe Bridgers, Hozier, and Fleetwood Mac, she began to use songwriting as a tool to process emotionally difficult experiences related to queerness, familial relationships, and mental illness. Her debut single, Cary, IL, was released in 2024 and was co-written by her sister and fellow Indie Pop artist, Amanda Ruth. The intimate folk-inspired tune explores their complicated upbringing through the simultaneous lenses of nostalgia and bitterness.

Today, Gina performs at local venues such as Alberta Street Pub and Artichoke Music, captivating audiences with her soberingly honest lyrics, tender melodies, and refined vocal sound.
